Tokyo Paralympics 2020: Check out the best photos from the Games so far

Athletes dazzled us with their amazing performances and unforgettable moments at the ongoing Paralympics, hosted in Japan's capital Tokyo. Just like the Olympics, the Paralympics were also postponed for a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But athletes came back with a bang. Egypt's Ibrahim Elhusseiny Hamadtou went viral for his amazing table tennis performance— playing only with his mouth. Again, Indian contingents are making the country proud with their podium finish. As of now, India's medal tally at the games reached 12, matching the best tally in the country's Paralympics history before Tokyo 2020. The Games are taking place through September 5, 2021. Devendra Jhajharia clinched a stupendous third Paralympic medal, a silver this time. The 40-year-old is India's greatest Paralympian after winning gold medals in the 2004 and 2016 Games, pulling off a new personal best throw of 64.35m to win the silver medal.

Nishad Kumar won a silver medal in the men's high jump T47 event in the Paralympics with an Asian record effort. America's Dallas Wise was also awarded a silver medal as he and Kumar cleared the same height of 2.06m.

18-year-old Praveen Kumar clinched the silver medal in the men's high jump T64 event. This was his debut Paralympics and he even set a new Asian record with a 2.07m jump to finish behind Great Britain's Jonathan Broom-Edwards, who won the gold medal with a 2.10m jump.

Swimmer Natalie Sims of the United States was captured in action at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

Takayuki Suzuki was caught in action at the Games. He delivered Japan's first gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. He won the men's 100 meters freestyle S4 in a Paralympic record of 1:21:58.

Australia's Vanessa Low celebrates with the country's flag after winning the gold medal and setting a new world record. The long-jumper broke her own world record three times in a row— first with a jump of 5.16m, followed by a 5.20m, finally smashing the benchmark once more with a 5.28m leap and winning gold.

Indian athlete Sumit Antil was captured celebrating his gold medal win at the Paralympics 2020. The Javelin thrower improved the world record three times in the final and with a monstrous throw of 68.55m in his fifth attempt led him to climb to the top of the podium.

Shuo Yan of China was snapped in action against Pavao Jozic of Croatia.

Avani Lekhara scripted history with her performance as she became the first Indian woman to win a gold medal at the Paralympics, firing her way to the top of the podium in the R-2 women's 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event. That was not it! She went ahead and claimed a 50m rifle 3 position SH1 bronze to her haul.
