Teary-eyed Chusovitina was captured in her emotional best, as she waved at the small crowd. She made her Olympic debut in 1992 as an athlete from the Soviet Union. The gymnast later represented Uzbekistan, and Germany as well that made her one of the two women athletes to represent three different national teams at the Games. Her career has spanned more than a quarter-century. Chusovitina is the only female gymnast ever to compete in eight Olympic Games. Her final presence at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 made the event even more memorable. After two vault attempts, the gymnast reportedly earned a score of 14.166, which was not enough for her to qualify for the event final. Once she realised that her score would not get her to the final, Chusovitina waved at everyone and cried before posing for photographs with many of her peers.
