But given the anticipation of her comeback, Ramya shared the big news with BT that she is indeed returning to acting. “Yes, I will be returning to the big screen with Uttarakaanda, directed by Rohit Padaki. Since I’ve always maintained that I want to give my fans a theatrical experience — which they too have insisted on — I felt Uttarakaanda fits the bill,” she tells us. “In fact, I was offered the lead in Ratnan Prapancha with the same team. I didn’t take it up then, but here we are again,” the actor adds. Uttarakaanda, which is said to have an intense and intriguing plot, will see Ramya playing the lead opposite Dhananjaya. “The movie has a gripping storyline and I play a fiesty and independent girl. I truly believe that everything that’s meant to be will happen and what’s not meant to be, will not; Uttarakaanda is my happy place. And while there, she went the whole hog, taking rides on horse-drawn carriages, trips to museums and even a chocolate-making class. “The mountains reminded me of the Alps and it was sheer joy to look at them and sip on hot cocoa,” says the actor. And then there was the shopping. Pop-up shops are the flavour of the season in Europe right now and she ensured got her fill. “Such nice curios and local produce to buy…I loved them,” she gushes. “If at all you wish to travel to Europe, the best time is now. It’s the fall-autumn season and the trees are at their best right now. The colours are mindblowing and the towns look so alluring with these multiple shades. As a director I was simply blown by the love they were showing us because I could see the kind of response we were drawing on social media. But nothing prepared us for the kind of reception we got when we arrived in Dubai,” shares director Kiranraj K, whose directorial debut this is. The team including Rakshit Shetty, leading lady Sangeetha Sringeri, art director Ullas Hydur, cinematographer Aravind Kashyap, editor Prateek Shetty and music director Nobin Paul visited various theatres and met fans. “A meet and greet session followed and we were so touched by the love they showed us.
