He was travelling from Delhi to Bhatinda in a white Mahindra Scorpio that rammed a trailer truck at 9:30 PM. The viral videos of the accident site clearly show Sidhu's SUV smashed on the rear of the trailer truck and the SUV's driver side portion is completely pushed in by the impact. After the accident, Deep Sidhu was brought dead to the hospital. Sidhu sparked controversy when he allegedly provoked protesters for violence at Red Fort during a tractor rally in New Delhi. Consequently, he was arrested by the Delhi Police in February last year in connection with the Red Fort violence. He was granted bail in April by the Delhi court on a condition that he has to appear for questioning whenever the police would call him. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi tweeted his condolences on the actor's death. "Deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate demise of renowned actor and social activist, Deep Sidhu. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family and fans," Mr Channi tweeted. The incident happened on July 28 in Vancouver when Guru told one Punjabi man not to come on stage while he was performing for the audience. That man was trying to come on stage again and again and then he started fighting with everyone backstage. He was known to the local promoter Surinder Sanghera who sent him away during the show. But at the end when Guru finished the show and was leaving the stage, that Punjabi man came and hit him hard on his face with a punch, because of which Guru started bleeding on the spot from his forehead above eyebrow and went back to stage and showed it to the audience," the Instagram post said.
