Russia cast aside international pressure and launched a military attack on Ukraine, targeting its military installations with missiles in the national capital Kyiv. Russian President Vladimir Putin warned America and European countries of unprecedented consequences if they make any attempt of interference. According to reports, big explosions were heard before dawn in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odesa. The United Nations and other world leaders condemned the Russian military action and said that the invasion would cause massive casualties and topple Ukraine's democratically elected government. "Under the present circumstances, I must change my appeal: President Putin, in the name of humanity, bring your troops back to Russia. This conflict must stop now.," UN Secretary-General António Guterres tweeted. In the wake of Russian invasion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy introduced martial law. He said Russia has targeted Ukraine's military infrastructure and explosions are heard across the country. Zelenskyy further added that he had just talked to US President Joe Biden, who pledged new sanctions to punish Russia for an act of 'aggression'.
