Tourism is reviving in the Kashmir Valley as most of the hotels are booked in the famous ski resort Gulmarg. Recently, Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Patel said that there has been a rise in the number of tourists, who are coming to Kashmir. According to the government data, 3,750 people visited Srinagar in January 2021, while the number reached 19,000 in January 2021. The tourism hit rock bottom in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, the rise in tourists is a significant sign of revival of the tourism sector. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also inaugurated the second 'Khelo India Winter Games' in Gulmarg and said that the mega event is a move towards making J&K a hub of winter sports. Athletes from 27 states and UTs participated in the event, which concluded on March 02, 2021. "This is a step towards making India's presence felt in the international winter games arena and also make Jammu and Kashmir a hub of winter sports," he said in a virtual address.
