Thousands of Sikh devotees thronged Takht Keshgarh Sahib, one of the five top Sikh shrines, to celebrate Hola Mohalla festival. The holy town of Anandpur Sahib was beautifully decked up to mark the occasion. Nihang Sikhs (Sikh Warriors) showcased their Gatka (traditional martial art) and horse riding skills. They also performed death-defying stunts, which were the main attraction of the celebrations. Religious processions were taken out in several towns and cities across India. Anandpur Sahib has great importance in Sikh religion as it is the same place, where the 10th and final Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh had in 1699 baptised five men and founded the Khalsa Panth, which is the modern-day Sikh religion. The Hola Mohalla celebrations began around 1701 as Guru Gobind Singh ordered his troops to have mock battles to keep them battle-ready.
