Republic Day celebrations began with full dress rehearsals, roadshows, rallies, functions and illumination of historical buildings across India. From armed forces to school children, people from all walks of life are celebrating the national festival. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi also arrived in New Delhi to attend the Republic Day Parade as a chief guest. "I reiterate my congratulations to the Indian nation, government and people for this great day. It is a great privilege to be a guest of honour and participate in the glorious national day," Egyptian President Sisi said at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. This year, a military contingent of Egyptian Army will march in the Republic Day parade.
