Heavy downpour wreaked havoc in Hyderabad as the rain water left most of the city inundated. Several families were evacuated from waterlogged houses and fallen trees and poles were removed from roads. At least nine people including a two-month-old child were killed as a wall of the house collapsed in Ghousenagar. The meteorological department said the city received the highest rainfall ever in the past 24 hours. "In GHMC limits so far, the record rainfall is 24 centimetre at Begumpet in Hyderabad in August 2000 when the city got flooded. Now in the last 24 hours till 5.00 am around 29.8 centimetre of rainfall has been recorded in GHMC limits at Hayatnagar," an official said. Vanasthalipuram, Dammaiguda, Attapur Main Road, and Musheerabad areas of Hyderabad were severely waterlogged due to incessant rainfall. Rainwater flooded into houses in Agamaya Nagar, Bank Colony, Hakkimbad, Sainath Colony, Gandesh Nagar in Vanasthalipuram of Rangareddy district.
