Heavy rain disrupted normal life in several parts of the country, causing water-logging and flood-like situation in many areas. The death-toll in rain and flood-related incidents crossed 500 with maximum causalities in Assam. Millions of people in the north-eastern state have been displaced due to deadly flood. According to a report, as many as 83 people have died in Maharashtra between June 1 and July 10. The Nashik district in North Maharashtra recorded the maximum deaths at 12 followed by Nagpur (four). In Gujarat, 63 people have lost their lives, of these maximum 33 died due to lightning strikes. The state Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Rajendra Trivedi said that at least eight were killed due to wall collapses, drownings (16), fall of trees (5) and power pole collapse (1). Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Minister and assured all possible help from the Centre. "Regarding the flood-like situation created due to heavy rains in various areas of Gujarat, talked to the Chief Minister Shri @Bhupendrapbjp and assured all possible help from the Modi government. The Gujarat administration, SDRF and NDRF are busy delivering quick help to the affected people," he tweeted. The heavy rain also caused waterlogging in low-lying areas of Mumbai and Delhi.
