Cyclonic storm Gulab brought heavy downpour to the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. However, the storm weakened into a deep depression after crossing Andhra-Odisha coast. The north coastal districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh received heavy rainfall with strong winds. The low-lying areas were submered into water and strong winds uprooted many trees and electricity poles. The authorities remained on high alert and carried out evacuation in the red zone areas. Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have already reached the north coastal Andhra. The fishermen community was warned not to venture into the sea. Deputy Chief Minister Dharmana Krishna Das along with officials visited some affected areas in Srikakulam district.
