Vijay Sethupathi draws flak from netizens for starring in Sri Lankan cricketer Muralitharan's Biopic

The motion poster of Tamil superstar Vijay Sethupathi's film '800' was revealed recently, however, the producers of the film didn't receive the reaction they were expecting. Twitterati began trending #ShameOnVijaySethupathi soon after the motion poster was released. '800' is a Tamil biopic based on the life of Sri Lankan bowler Muttiah Muralitharan. One comment said, "#ShameOnVijaySethupathi Murali is a Tamilan but he represents Srilanka & Srilankan. We have a lot of cricketing legends in our country then why making srilankan player biopic." However, some others have come out in support of Sethupathi and have praised the star for his unrecognisable look. Vijay Sethupathi, who has won many awards and accolades, is known for taking on unconventional roles. '800' starring Sethupathi in the lead role, will be directed by MS Sripathy. Vijay will soon be seen on the big screens in the film 'Master', which was slated for release in April 2020 but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. (Photos: Instagram)
