No cuts for 'Joker' in India; gets A certificate

Good news for DC Comic fans in India, the Indian censor board has granted 'A' certificate without any cuts to the supervillain movie 'Joker'. However, according to a source, the movie starring Joaquin Phoenix in the title role will have two mutes. Based on the popular DC supervillain of the same name, the character Arthur Fleck, which is played by Phoenix is an aspiring stand-up comedian whose life turns into a tragedy in a series of disappointments. Arthur's depression gives birth to a new personality in him, an antihero—Joker, who struggles to find his way in Gotham's fractured society. The much-awaited movie is preponed in India, which was scheduled to release on October 4, but will now open on the national holiday—Gandhi Jayanti. Internationally, the movie has left film critics wondering if it will encourage violence. Apart from Joaquin Phoenix, the movie also features Robert De Niro, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais and Shea Whigham, and directed by Todd Phillips.
