Vidya Balan to play math wizard Shakuntala Devi

Vidya Balan will be seen in a biopic based on the life of Math expert Shakuntala Devi. The makers have unveiled the first look of the actress as Shakuntala Devi from her look test that went viral. The untitled movie will be directed by Anu Menon, which is scheduled to release in theatres in 2020. Vidya Balan said in one of the interviews, “I will get a bob to look the part. So the curly bob and my classic South Indian face is a good match for the part. What drew me to the subject was her magnetic personality and the life that she led. I am playing her from her early 20s till the fag end of her career.” Vidya is known for pioneering a change in the portrayal of women in Hindi cinema with her roles in female-led movies. As for mathematician Shakuntala Devi, she was popularly known as the 'human computer'. Devi's talent earned her a place in the 1982 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records. Apart, from that, she wrote the book 'The World of Homosexuals', which is considered the first study of homosexuality in India.
