Digital space is taking over big screens, concerns Big B

Amitabh Bachchan expressed his concerns over the future of movie theatres in the age of digital entertainment. He suggested that movies should be released first on big screens and then on online platforms and devices. According to Big B, realistic pricing of tickets and good content are a must to draw people out of their sofas. "We need to find ways to protect these traditions. I like the idea of pictures first showing in cinema halls, and then, perhaps, going to streaming and other devices. I am a loyalist to that degree", Bachchan said at the closing ceremony of the 25th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF). Filmmakers are opting for digital release to save on cost and earn maximum profit. This could be a threat to cinema theatres and multiplexes in the near future. Last year Shahrukh Khan said during an interview, "Now youngsters do not watch stuff on TV; they see it on the phone. But I would like to see 'Batman' or 'Baahubali' on the big screen," Khan said.
