Milan Digital Fashion Week: Gucci Epilogue Collection 2021

With the future of fashion uncertain designers have found new ways to showcase their collection. This year’s Milan Digital Fashion week brought together Gucci’s Epilogue Collection 2021, throwing out the traditional fashion show format. The ‘Epilogue’ collection was presented in a 12-hour live stream video that was broadcasted from the Palazzo Sacchetti in Rome. The viewers got a glimpse of the behind the scenes of a Gucci shoot as it happens in real-time with all the aspects from checking light and camera to models getting dressed up for the show. The collection exhibited 76 looks with vibrant mismatching patterns, bold colours, and rich textures with an emphasis on the bohemian styles of the 60s. The brand also unveiled a series of new collaborations with Disney resulting in Donald Duck print across several pieces, Japanese manga character Doraemon, Liberty London prints, and motifs of designer Ken Scott. The epilogue was the last chapter for Gucci’s creative director Michele, known as the ‘trilogy of love’ which began in February during Milan Fashion Week. Michele described the collection as the closing act of narration, “After last season’s show, which offered a glimpse into the backstage mechanics of a runway presentation, this project was intended to offer another insight behind the curtain. I tried to dismantle the scaffolding, to turn things upside down. It was a road that, while I walked, deposited new questions, and stirred things up”, she said. (Photos: Instagram)
