Selita Ebanks, former Victoria's Secret model's photos go viral after she reveals the brand's body expectations were 'unnatural'

A Victoria's Secret Angel is one of the highest honours a model could ever hope for. The brand's fantastical runway shows serve as a fashionable spectacle, garnering millions of viewers around the world. However, earlier this year, the brand confirmed that it is ending its Angels brand as it undergoes a major turnaround effort. The lingerie brand's roster of models still holds cachet as some of the most successful models in the industry. But being a Victoria's Secret model requires a big commitment and responsibility, including some "unnatural" body expectations. Former Victoria's Secret Angel Selita Ebanks in a recent interview detailed her rough behind-the-scenes modelling experience. The 38-year-old appeared on E!'s 'True Hollywood Story' where she revealed the pressures that came with being a Victoria's Secret Angel. During the special episode, she said, "Modeling for Victoria's Secret, there's a code you have to follow. There is expectation to maintain the size, and unfortunately, we are going against Mother Nature. It is not something that's natural, it is not something that should happen. It's tough." Ebanks went on to explain how every model's goal was to become an Angel, so when she became one, she considered it to be the biggest achievement of her career. The model added that she had a difficult time fitting with the other models. "A lot of other models didn't think that I was deserving of this contract, so I had to basically fight my way into their circle," Ebanks said.
