Tanveer Wasim aka Tan France was born on April 20, 1983, and is a fashion designer, television personality and author. American Fashion designer was born to Pakistani parents in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. He became one of the very first openly gay Muslim men on western television. The 37-year-old fashion designer Tan is married to a nurse and illustrator Rob France. He was a company director at ‘Shade Clothing’ before he opened his solo fashion company in 2011, ‘Kingdom & State’. Later, retailers ‘ModCloth’ and ‘Forever 21’ bought France’s designs. In 2016, he became a co-founder, CEO and fashion designer for the Rachel Parcell Inc. clothing line sold at Nordstrom. France sold all his businesses and officially retired when Netflix contacted him for the show ‘Queer Eye’. In January 2020, France decided to co-host the show ‘Next in Fashion’. Tan also featured in Taylor Swift’s music video ‘You Need to Calm Down’. France has also authored his memoir, Naturally Tan, in June 2019, which became NYT bestseller. The American fashion designer also has a massive 3.8 million following on Instagram and has always been vocal about colourism, racism and Islamophobia.
