When the Banarasi and Awadhi music styles met on the beat of the tabla, sarangi and harmonium on stage, the entire auditorium echoed with applause. Folk singer Malini Awasthi mesmerized music lovers with her songs at an event held at Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Sant Gadge Auditorium. This was the musical tribute to the legendary Indian singer, Padma Bhushan Begum Akhtar who was a well-known singer of Ghazal, Dadra and Thumri. The event was hosted by the Cultural Department, Uttar Pradesh titled ‘Yaadein’. Malini Awasthi started the evening with by singing Humse Nazariya Kaahe Fere Baalam and continued with Kuchh Toh Duniya Ki Inayat Ne Dil Tod Diya and many more. Minister of State for Culture Dr Neelkanth Tiwari and Principal Secretary of Culture and Tourism Department, Jitendra Kumar were present as the chief guest of the program.
