The 59th National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championship 2019 kicked off in Lucknow from the PAC Athletics Stadium, Mahanagar. The four-day championship witnessed the participation of athletes from not only 24 states of India but also from Sri Lanka, Iran and Maldives. The event, organised by Uttar Pradesh Chapter of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with UP Athletics Association (UPAA) and Athletics Federation of India (AFI), had over 500 athletes participating in track and field sports.
