Visitors saw over a hundred archival pictures of Qutub Minar and its complex. It also included a picture of India’s first president Rajendra Prasad visiting the monument and showcased sketches of the medieval tower by engineers and artists. These pictures were part of ‘The Silent Melody of Qutub Minar’ exhibition that was put on display by the Archaeological Survey of India as part of the World Heritage Week. The exhibition was inaugurated by Manisha Saxena, secretary, art & culture of Delhi government. In an interview with Delhi Times, an ASI official said, “This is the first time we are holding an exhibition of archival photographs, some even a hundred years old. The photographs being exhibited include those showing Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and his son, Prince Charles, and several foreign dignitaries such as Yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito and the Shah of Iran.” The official said Qutub Minar was chosen because it allows social distance from its spacious complex. He disclosed that the photographs were created by ASI’s technical team of the photography division.
