Film on the training of women officers in the Indian Army screened at the capital

A 44-minute long documentary ‘Women of Honour: Destination Army’ was screened in Delhi to celebrate the strength and courage of women in the olive greens. The Women’s Day special film showed the journey of two lady cadets at the Officer’s Training Academy, Chennai. The film was helmed by National Geographic in association with the Indian Army. This year’s theme for Women’s Day is ‘Choose to Challenge’. The film captured the transformative 49-week training of lady cadets as they enter the academy. Lt Gen Madhuri Kanitkar, the chief guest for the event, is the third woman officer in the Indian Armed Forces to hold a three-star rank. While addressing the gathering, she said, “The film brings alive the journey of the lady cadets and also highlights the qualities of the armed forces." She further added, “Women in forces have chosen to challenge. With a mentor, the right attitude and sheer passion, women in uniform are empowered already.” She advised people to take the challenge, but with responsibility.
