Vijender Singh took heroin 12 times, say Punjab Police

The revelation, a part of the investigation report by Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib district police, said that Vijender and Ram Singh had consumed heroin about 12 and 5 times respectively. (BCCL)

"It has been established that boxers Ram Singh and Vijender Singh took heroin from Anoop Singh Kahlon and Rocky for personal consumption between December 2012 and February 2013. Heroin was first procured by Ram Singh alone in December 2012 and subsequently both the boxers went together to Zirakpur for procuring consumption quantity heroin once in January and twice in February," said a statement issued by the office of Punjab ADGP (Intelligence) Hardeep Dhillon, who is also the official spokesperson of the state police. TOI on Friday had reported that the Fatehgarh Sahib police had prepared a 356-page preliminary investigation report into the heroin haul, and a single-page application seeking Vijender's samples. "The matter regarding moving the competent court for issuance of directions to the boxers for making themselves available for a hair test is being examined by deputy district attorney at Fatehgarh Sahib," the police said on Sunday. In its 356-page report, the police on Sunday also mentioned the 56 call logs between the drug kingpin Kahlon and Vijender, besides the GPS location details of Vijender's cellphone near the Zirakpur flat belonging to Kahlon.

The case dates back to the March 3 recovery of 26 kg heroin from a flat in the Zirakpur area of Mohali district, following which Kahlon alias Ruby and his associate Rocky were arrested. (BCCL)
