Mumbai Police reveals Badshah confessed about paying 75 lakh for crores of fake followers; rapper denies allegation

Continuing its probe into the sensational social media racket linked to creating fake 'followers and likes', the Mumbai Police has investigated at least 20 prominent personalities including rapper Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, Badshah, official sources said. After a 10-hour long interrogation by the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU), Badshah has reportedly admitted to shelling out over Rs. 75 lakh for promoting his music album with fake likes and followers. He was questioned again and is likely to be summoned again for other related aspects of the probe, said the sources. The developments came after the Mumbai Police bust the sensational scam on July 14, 2020 through analytical technical-intelligence and nabbed one person, following a complaint lodged by Bollywood playback singer Bhumi Trivedi. Later, rapper Badshah was called by the Crime Branch office in Mumbai for questioning in the fake followers racket case. Reportedly, the Crime Branch prepared a list of 238 questions for Badshah. The Crime Branch wanted to understand from Badshah that how his songs have got views in millions on social media but the comment on these amounts only to hundreds. Allegedly, one of the songs of Badshah "Pagal hai", got 75 million views in a day but Google dismissed this claim. The Crime Branch wanted to verify this claim made by Badshah. The Crime Branch has sought the list of followers from Badshah. In total, the Crime Branch has questioned 20 people in the matter so far.
