Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are among those celebrities, who leave no stone unturned to help needy people. The couple donated a huge amount of money and raised more than Rs. 11 crore for Covid-19 relief.

Salman Khan, who donates a large chunk of his income for social work, is the most charitable celebrity in the Bollywood industry. He founded a Mumbai-based charity, Being Human Foundation in 2007 that provides education and healthcare services for the underprivileged in India. According to reports, Salman Khan helped 25,000 daily wage workers from the film industry by crediting Rs 1,500 in each bank account during pandemic.

Deepika Padukone went into depression after her break up with her then boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor. Once she revealed, "The word that best describes my experience of depression is struggle. Every second was a struggle. I felt exhausted the whole time." After going through the trauma of depression, she decided to help people, who were suffering from the same condition. In 2015, she founded an NGO called The Live Love Laugh Foundation that deals with mental health issues. The organisation has educated around 2 lakh students. She also donated a huge amount of money in Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.

You will be surprised that your favourite star Shah Rukh Khan has been awarded an honorary doctorate in Philanthropy by The College of Regulation, London in 2019. While receiving the honour, he had said, "I believe that charity should be done in silence and with dignity. One cannot speak about their charitable acts because it loses its purpose. I have been privileged to be able to use my status as a public personality to champion causes close to my heart". He is often referred to as a silent charity maker. Shah Rukh Khan's Meer Foundation works for the courses on women empowerment, rehabilitation of the underprivileged and acid attack survivors.

Shilpa Shetty runs an NGO, which helps poor patients for their treatment. In 2007, she won Celebrity Big Brother and donated her prize money to Indian AIDS awareness campaigns.

We can't imagine the amount of money Hrithik Roshan donates for the betterment of the society. In 2008, he donated ₹2 million (US$28,000) to the Nanavati Hospital for the treatment of stammering children. Rajinikanth has a God-like status in South India. He is known for his philanthropy as his team is running many charity programmes across India. Even, his followers have set up an organisation 'Rajini Makkal Mandram', which helps the financially unstable and the needy with their medical expenses.

If it is asked which Bollywood actor was most helpful during pandemic, the name of Sonu Sood tops the list. He remained in headlines for his charity work. Apart from donating money, Sonu Sood arranged buses for migrants and distributed food. Sonu Sood runs an NGO named Sood Charity Foundation.

Reacting to trolls, who were questioning him and other celebrities over their donations during pandemic, Amitabh Bachchan shared a detailed list of all the charitable work he has done. He revealed that over 1500 farmers' bank loans paid off by his personal fund. He also helped the families of soldiers, who sacrified their lives in Pulwama terror attack. In 2020, he provided food to over 4,00,000 daily wage earners in the country for a month.
