India's Adline Castelino becomes third runner-up at Miss Universe 2020

While Mexico's Andrea Meza won the Miss Universe 2020 crown, Liva Miss Diva Universe 2020 Adline Castelino was adjudged as the third runner-up at the prestigious international beauty pageant, which was held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, USA. Adline Castelino broke India's 20-year drought placing the third runner-up ever since Celina Jaitley placed the fourth-up in 2001. Born in Kuwait City to Mangalorean Catholic parents, who hailed from Udyavara in Udupi, Karnataka. Adline Castelino graduated with a degree in Business Administration and worked for a welfare organisation called Vikas Sahayog Pratishthan (VSP). She also supported the LGBT community, Child Help Foundation (CHF) and promoted conducting leadership programmes for women. During the coronavirus lockdown in 2020, Adline helped in providing essentials like food supplies, face masks and sanitizers for ‘Desire Society’, a non-profit voluntary organization that cares for children infected with HIV in India. Adline Castelino supported Smile Train's campaign to end the sigma around coronavirus and initiated fundraisers for the Akshaya Patra Foundation. She promoted a drive titled 'PCOS Free India.' In 2021, Adline Castelino also organized fundraisers so as to provide the donations to Agricultural Resource Centers to support women self-help groups. (All photos: Instagram)
