Beatrice Luigi Gomez became the first lesbian candidate to win Miss Universe Philippines 2021. As the Philippines' first LGBT queen, Beatrice Luigi Gomez broke barriers and is all set to represent her nation at Miss Universe 2021. Post winning the crown, Beatrice took to Instagram and wrote, "BREAKING BARRIERS…No words can describe the pride and honor that I’ve been blessed with, from being a delegate tasked to represent my home, Cebu City, to being an ambassador and servant leader of my beloved country, Philippines. I am indebted to the people who rallied with me in my causes and in my journey to represent my community and to shed light in the diversity of women." Beatrice bested 27 other contenders to win the coveted beauty pageant. Post her national win, Beatrice Luigi Gomez will now represent the Philippines at the 70th Miss Universe pageant, which is scheduled to be held in Eilat, Israel, in December 2021.
