Badminton Association of India felicitates Commonwealth Games medallists

Indian Badminton athletes had the best performances at Commonwealth Games this year, with the team winning two golds, three silvers, and a bronze at the Gold Coast games. The Badminton Association of India held a felicitation ceremony for the medallists at a Delhi hotel recently, which was attended by the top badminton talent from the country.Among the players who were felicitated and handed over cash prizes of up to `20 lakh by the federation were women’s singles gold and silver medallists Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu, and the men’s singles silver medallist Kidambi Srikanth, apart from the winners in the doubles competitions. Srikanth, who briefly became the World No. 1 men’s player last month due to his performance at the Games, said, “I would just want to congratulate all my fellow players, who made this happen. Without them, nothing would have been possible. Also, a big thanks to the support staff and coaches for helping us throughout the fifteen days.” (BCCL/Ranjit Kumar)
